A Medieval Adventure Just Outside Paris
We spent the day exploring Provins, a medieval town about 90 minutes from Paris. The adventure started with a scenic one-hour bus ride from Serris, costing just €2.50 per person. Travel like this still amazes me — affordable and surprisingly smooth.
The highlight of the day was the underground gallery tour — a cool, mysterious experience walking through merchant tunnels carved into the stone beneath the town. The guide shared stories of knights, secrets, and medieval history that made the walk extra special.
After the tunnels, we attended La Légende des Chevaliers, a live horse show complete with jousting, sword fights, and flaming whips. It was a little cheesy... but in the best way. The kids loved it and so did the adults.
One of the unexpected highlights was climbing Caesar’s Tower. The panoramic view of Provins and the surrounding countryside made the climb well worth it. We capped off the day wandering through cobbled streets, enjoying crepes, and picking up souvenirs from local shops.
